Thuya wood hails from Morocco and especially Essaouira, in the foothills of the Atlas mountains. Its main characteristics are a lovely burr, like burr walnut; it's a very tactile wood and the resinous smell is amazing. A product made of Thuya wood delivers on so many levels... Our artisans are particularly skilled and so the finish is of a consistently high level. Of course, being handmade, inconsistencies do occur, however that is part of the charm of a handmade product; no two items are ever alike.
